A Little Bit About Who We Are
A Little about me: I go by Lisa Hawkins, and I'm the face of Kaleidoscopes Writing and this Blog. I have always been a mental health advocate, but in recent years, my advocacy has become a part of who I am. I am an individual diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, dissociative amnesia, and Complex trauma. After having a misdiagnosis that nearly destroyed my life, I came to psychedelics by accident. They have changed everything and allowed me room for authentic healing.
I created this Blog with one goal in mind. To show what it's like to heal from the complexities of severe childhood trauma and not just feel whole but be whole. I have found this to be possible using psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy with the addition of somatic processing. I wanted to share my healing experiences and bring awareness and understanding of what therapy with psychedelics can do and what the process is like.
I have been on this adventure for the last several years, and it has been one of my most challenging yet rewarding experiences. Where nothing else has worked, psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy has allowed me to heal from the trauma I don't remember and has enabled me to change my future and the way I react, act, and think. It has given me the ability to embrace my authentic self without fear.
I'm excited for you to join me on my journey towards healing. I want my story to help inspire and encourage others; healing is possible, and the experience is truly unique.
This Blog is a precursor to my book, "Snapshots and kaleidoscopes: a story of healing from complex trauma through psychedelics."
